Ava’s natural Candles are hand made eco friendly candles made by myself Claire, from my home in North County Dublin. Each candle I make is hand poured with blends of pure essential oils that I mix myself.

The idea to venture into making candles came to me in 2018 when my mum was diagnosed with lung cancer. Prior to her diagnosis she battled with Asthma and COPD and used inhalers regularly to help her with her breathing. Even though she struggled to breathe at times she still loved candles and had several of them in every room of the house. Everytime she went shopping she would buy another candle. To top it off we would also buy some for her. I mean what woman doesn’t love a good candle………

Unfortunatly my mum couldn’t light any of hers as the heavy aromas and smells would trigger off her asthma and she couldn’t breathe. In the end they were just used for decoration purposes. 

We couldn’t use heavy sprays or have strong smelling flowers in the house either. Even our perfume would catch her at times.

After the shocking news that she had developed lung cancer I started to look at ways we could have a more natural non toxic scent around the house. 

Something that wouldn’t trigger an attack or catch her breathe and that’s when the idea of naturally eco friendly candles came about.

I had just come up with the CALM candle for her when she finally passed away on the 5^th of Novemeber 2018.
